Kan Nihonichi 200mm Bud Pruning Shear Forged Carbon Steel
Kan Nihonichi bud pruning shears are forged in Yamagata City Japan which has become a small manufacturing hub for garden and agricultural tools.
These are forged from a single billet of Hitachi S58C steel, a carbon tool steel with .55-.6% carbon that can be hardened to support a fine finish with good toughness. The blades are hand ground and have a smooth precise cutting.
Because these are made with harder steel than some commonly found non-Japanese shears and pruners care must be taken not to twist or pry during cutting or use them on anything beside plant materials.
These are not stainless, avoid rust by cleaning and oiling after use, the steel will change color with use but active rust should be removed.
