Lucerne 7” Bullnose Butcher ‘Carbon Steel USA’ W Steelmark Logo 1950-70s
Somewhat average 7” bullnose butcher knife (but in great condition..) with a bit of interesting history on it. Marked only ‘Lucerne Carbon Steel USA’ in a light electro-etch on it’s blade with a brass riveted rosewood handle with a sticker most recognizable as looking like the Pittsburgh Steelers logo.
Originally developed in the 1950’s by US Steel the ‘Steelmark’ logo was given to the AISI to promote USA made steel. The three diamonds symbolize three virtues of steel: “steel lightens your work, brightens your leisure and widens your world”
The Pittsburgh Steelers added the Steelmark logo to their helmets in the early 60’s.
