Guss Stahl Double Mezzaluna Hachoir Germany 1880s-1920s?
Marked only Guss Stahl - cast steel or crucible steel (melted down shear or blister steel) and 4 on opposite side. Double bladed mezzaluna with hand forged carbon steel blades, brass ferrules and turned beechwood handles.
This was taken apart, cleaned sharpened and re-assembled with epoxy in the tang-handle and in the cracks in the wood. This has seen a lot of work but is ready for more action. Has a little wobble and lean in the edge, and leans to one side a little, makes up for a little caddywampusness with its character.
10.5" from tip to tip of blade 20.5 oz
