Early Forschner lambsplitter with 12" blade and steep taper in handle which sport custom macasser ebony handle scales with four brass pins and one brass and steel rosette rivet. 

Blade had been sharpened down quite a bit and has now been thinned to bring it back to a better geometry and balance, some of the marks are lost but the old Forschner XXXX mark is still visible. 

Richard H Forschner began selling butchery equipment at the turn of the century, importing butchers scales, knives and equipment mostly from Germany and began working with Victorinox in Switzerland in the late 30s in the lead up to WW2. This relationship with Victorinox became synonymous with Forschner.
